Palm Springs Aerial Tramway’s Snow Guessing Contest Ends
Craige Campbell November 22, 2025The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway’s Annual Snow Guessing Contest officially ended on Sunday, November 16 with one inch of measurable snow at the Tramway’s Mountain Station.
There were seven contestants who submitted the correct date:
- Carolyn Kirner-Schmidt of San Diego
- Sharon Lee Jones of Rancho Mirage
- Daisy Sandoval Mendez
- Stephanie Smith of Desert Hot Springs
- Martina Jimenez of Hemet
- Rick Bauer of Herald
- Shelley Gleasm of Cathedral City
Each winner will receive four regular Tramway admission tickets (valid for one year) plus a special Tramway gift. The contest began October 1, and 519 entries were received.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is the world’s largest rotating tram car. Opened in 1963, the Tram’s 80-passenger cars travel along the breathtaking cliffs of Chino Canyon from the Valley Station (elevation 2,643 ft.) to the Mountain Station (elevation 8,516 ft.) in approximately 10 minutes. With COVID-19 cases significantly down, the City Council approved re-opening VillageFest at their last night meeting, with a smaller footprint and safety protocols in place. The street fair is expected to expand to its original length in the coming months. During the summer, VillageFest hours of operation will be 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
