Taste of Summer Rancho Mirage 2026 Ends August 16th

Font size:

There is something especially appealing about summer dining in Rancho Mirage: the pace slows down, the crowds thin out, and locals have an opportunity to rediscover the restaurants that make the Coachella Valley such a special place to live.

Story By Craige Campbell  / CoachellaValley.com

This year, that experience takes on an even greater purpose with Taste of Summer Rancho Mirage 2026, a community-wide celebration running through August 16, 2026.

Organized by the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce, the annual program brings together 30+ participating restaurants and more than 40 nonprofit organizations, creating a unique partnership between local dining, small business and community philanthropy.

Thirty+ Restaurants. One Community.

Taste of Summer is designed around a simple idea: get people out to eat locally during the traditionally slower summer months while helping nonprofit organizations raise money.

For diners, participation begins with a $10 Taste of Summer wristband, available through participating nonprofit organizations. The wristband provides access to special offers and promotions at participating restaurants throughout the event, while an accompanying Taste of Summer passport encourages diners to explore as many restaurants as possible.

Katie Slimko-Tuvell, President & CEO of the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce.

In other words, it is part dining promotion, part community fundraiser and part culinary adventure.

And with 30+ restaurants involved, there is plenty to explore.

The 2026 program includes a broad range of dining experiences, from Italian and Mexican cuisine to sushi, steakhouses, cafés, resort restaurants, pizza and casual favorites. The program is intentionally designed to encourage diners to step outside their normal routines and try somewhere new.

The Chamber describes the event as a way for restaurants to receive a much-needed summer boost while nonprofits benefit from fundraising opportunities.

For our own Taste of Summer experience, we’re heading to The Slice

Our Taste of Summer Stop: The Slice

For our own Taste of Summer experience, we’re heading to The Slice — officially Slice Italia – N.Y. Style Pizzeria + Kitchen.

Located at 72775 Dinah Shore Drive, Suite 107, Slice Italia brings a New York-style pizzeria experience to Rancho Mirage, with pizza, pasta, calzones and other Italian favorites. The restaurant is particularly known for its generous portions and casual, welcoming atmosphere.

For anyone who loves a classic New York-style slice, this is an especially fitting Taste of Summer destination. The restaurant’s location also makes it convenient for a dinner-and-movie outing, sitting near the Rancho 16 cinema complex.

The program matters because summer can be challenging for restaurants throughout the Coachella Valley.

And that’s part of what makes Taste of Summer work so well: it isn’t asking residents to create an elaborate evening around an event. Instead, it gives people another reason to visit restaurants they already enjoy — or discover one they have been meaning to try.

The Bigger Idea Behind Taste of Summer

With seasonal visitors away and temperatures soaring, local restaurants often experience a significant slowdown. Taste of Summer addresses that challenge by giving residents and visitors a reason to dine out while simultaneously supporting local charities.

The Chamber estimates that over 40 nonprofit organizations are participating in the 2026 program. Each $10 wristband purchased through a participating nonprofit becomes a fundraising opportunity for that organization.

That creates an unusual three-way benefit:

Restaurants win because more customers walk through their doors.

Nonprofits win because they have a summer fundraising opportunity.

Diners win because they receive restaurant specials while discovering new places to eat.

It is a genuine local-business ecosystem — one meal at a time.

Katie Slimko-Tuvell: The Leader Behind the Chamber’s Community Focus

A major force behind the program is Katie Slimko-Tuvell, IOM, President & CEO of the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce.

Meet Katie Slimko-Tuvell and the Chamber team

Katie’s role extends well beyond traditional chamber responsibilities. She describes her work as operating at the intersection of businesses, community leaders, nonprofits and entrepreneurs throughout the Coachella Valley.

In a May 2026 leadership column, Slimko-Tuvell emphasized that leadership is ultimately about service — advocating for businesses, supporting nonprofit leaders and walking alongside the community.

That philosophy is reflected in Taste of Summer.

Rather than treating the program simply as a restaurant promotion, the Chamber has built it around the idea that local economic development and community giving can happen at the same table.

Slimko-Tuvell has also recently expanded her leadership role within the chamber industry. In May, she was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Western Association of Chamber Executives (WACE), a regional organization serving chamber professionals throughout the western United States and Canada.

Her approach to Taste of Summer is perhaps best summed up by the Chamber’s message surrounding this year’s program: everyone can win.

More Than a Restaurant Promotion

There are plenty of restaurant weeks and dining promotions around the country. What distinguishes Taste of Summer Rancho Mirage is the connection between the restaurant and the nonprofit community.

A person can purchase a $10 wristband from a local nonprofit, visit The Slice for pizza, use the passport to keep exploring Rancho Mirage restaurants, and know that the original purchase helped support a local charitable organization.

The City of Rancho Mirage is also adding another incentive to shop locally during the program. For the duration of Taste of Summer, the city’s Shop Local Rancho Mirage gift card receives a 50 percent enhancement — meaning a $100 purchase provides $150 in spending power.

Together, those initiatives reinforce the same message: when you spend locally, more of your dollar stays in the community.

Make Your Own Taste of Summer Passport

Taste of Summer Rancho Mirage runs through August 16, 2026, giving diners nearly a month to explore the participating restaurants.

If you are looking for a place to start, our recommendation is simple: meet us at The Slice.

Order a New York-style pizza, enjoy some Italian comfort food, and make it the first stop on your own Rancho Mirage culinary adventure.

Order a New York-style pizza, enjoy some Italian comfort food, and make it the first stop on your own Rancho Mirage culinary adventure.

Then pull out that passport and see how many of the other 29 restaurants you can discover before August 16.

Because Taste of Summer Rancho Mirage isn’t really about choosing between supporting local business, enjoying great food or giving back.

It’s about doing all three at once!
