New 4 story hotel proposed at the River Mall in Rancho Mirage
Publisher CoachellaValley June 16, 2021An application has been made by a New York City developer to build a large, 4 story hotel to be located in the parking lot of the River Mall in Rancho Mirage. This new hotel would require a major Planning Code variance, as it would be 4 stories high. There are currently 3 hotels with over 325 rooms within walking distance to the River Mall currently.
This proposed project is currently under review by the Rancho Mirage Planning Department. An environmental report has already been submitted by the developer and is available on the RM Planning Dept website.
The final RM Planning Dept Report and recommendations are due to be posted on their site by COB Friday, June 18.
Written comments from concerned residents are encouraged and can be submitted to the Planning Department as soon as possible.
The Planning Department Meeting, open to the public, is scheduled for June 24 at 2 PM. Interested parties can attend in person or via Zoom.

With COVID-19 cases significantly down, the City Council approved re-opening VillageFest at their last night meeting, with a smaller footprint and safety protocols in place. The street fair is expected to expand to its original length in the coming months. During the summer, VillageFest hours of operation will be 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
