Dallas-based developer Hall Group has announced its plans to brand the hotel at 400 N. Palm Canyon Drive, formerly planned to be Andaz Palm Springs, as Thompson Palm Springs, which is expected to join Hyatt’s award-winning luxury lifestyle hotel portfolio Thompson Hotels, subject to finalizing a new management agreement with a Hyatt affiliate.

Construction is expected to recommence on the partially completed hotel later this year, with a projected opening in 2022.

“We look forward to collaborating with Hall Group to re-engage and reimagine this project, which is expected to fly the Thompson Hotels flag and further add to the growing number of properties within the Thompson Hotels portfolio throughout Southern California and across the country,” said Kimo Bertram, Hyatt’s vice president of real estate and development.

“We look forward to introducing a new lifestyle offering to Palm Springs that will provide experiences that celebrate its destination in a sophisticated way for guests and locals alike.”

Situated in the heart of downtown Palm Springs, the hotel will feature 164 luxury guestrooms and suites with panoramic views of the San Jacinto Mountains and the City of Palm Springs.

Thompson Palm Springs is being designed as a collection of small buildings and guestroom bungalows surrounding two outdoor pools, gardens, lounge areas, and winding walking paths.

Additional hotel amenities will include a signature restaurant, indoor and outdoor bar and lounges, fitness studio, 6,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and high-end street-level retail spaces, which will be an exciting complement to the thriving shopping, dining and artistic corridor along Palm Canyon Drive.

“We believe the Thompson Hotels brand will be a great fit for this property, as it offers a luxury guest experience that reflects and engages with the surrounding community while focusing on offering world-class food and beverage and thoughtfully curated amenities that will benefit both locals and visitors to Palm Springs,” said Craig Hall, Chairman and Founder of Hall Group. “We are hard at work preparing to resume construction at the property and look forward to delivering this one-of-a-kind hotel to the Palm Springs community.”
