How much rain did we get over the weekend?

According to the Desert Sun: A gauge near Indio recorded 1.45 inches of rain between 6 a.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday. The storm also forced the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to be closed Monday, with operations expected to resume at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Storms over the weekend brought Thunder, Lighting and Flash Flood Warnings

“That’s the highest amount that we’ve seen in the Coachella Valley,” Phil Gonsalves, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s San Diego office, said Monday. “The smallest amount we’ve seen in the valley so far was 0.04 inches, near the southern area and Thermal. There’s a whole spectrum of rainfall totals in between.”

The Palm Springs International Airport collected nearly one-half of an inch of rain (0.46), setting a daily record. Monday’s heavy rain was the biggest single-day accumulation in the city since 0.46 fell on April 8, 2020.
