  • Southern California faces more heat again this week.

A heatwave will once again hit Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties beginning Tuesday, Oct. 12, forecasters say, and last through this Friday.

“It is going to be very warm again this week,” said David Sweet, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “So drink lots of water. Avoid too much exposure to daytime heat.”

It will be hot and dry in the four counties, with a high-pressure system bringing temperatures from the 90s to the 100s to many spots. Coastline communities, as usual, will get a bit of a break and reach the 80s.

“There is a dome of very hot air sitting directly over us,” Sweet said.

In Los Angeles County, he said, the valleys will see temperatures in the mid- to upper-90s on Tuesday. Some communities will be even hotter, Sweet said, with Woodland Hills possibly hitting 101 degrees on Tuesday.

Sweet predicted that Wednesday and Thursday would be the warmest days.

San Bernardino could see 100 degrees, temperatures will be in the upper 90s in Riverside while the mercury will hover in the mid-90s in Anaheim on Tuesday, said meteorologist Liz Schenk of the National Weather Service.

Orange County beach communities will feel temperatures in the mid- to upper-80s until Friday, she said.

Residents will get a bit of relief by the weekend.

Temperatures will go down three to four degrees on Saturday in parts of Southern California, Schenk said, with Sunday and Monday dipping even further – perhaps 10 degrees cooler than the peak’s highs.
