Joshua Tree Astrophotography Workshop

Joshua Tree Astrophotography Workshop

OVERVIEW: Joshua Tree workshop is a 2-night class on June 10-12, 2016. A 2-night course gives us enough time to explore numerous locations and utilize all the information we learn during the workshop. 2-night participants also receive a free 2 hour Post-Processing course on the final day! This is a 6-person max workshop. Smaller class sizes allows the best possible learning conditions in a group setting, and is more personal. If you would like a private 1-on-1 workshop, that can be arranged before or after these dates. Please email me if you are interested in doing so. I welcome all skill levels to attend my group workshops, but please have a little knowledge of your camera gear & photography basics such as manual settings, exposure triangle, and in-camera menu options. Please message me and I can link you to some great tutorials if needed.

POST PROCESSING: Post Processing is included in this workshop for attendees on the final day in our hotel’s business meeting room. I will teach you my successful workflow all the way form importing to exporting your images. You will learn some of the best ways to adjust your photos and reduce noise that is associated with nightscape photography. We will cover how to enhance your photos through Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and Starstax. These are programs I use and they are the best for making your images really stand out! Please have these programs installed on your laptop before the workshop. You can download a 30 Day trial from Adobe.

LOCATION: This workshop will be held in pre-selected locations in Joshua Tree State Park. Joshua Tree’s diverse desert gives us plenty of dramatic compositions. We will meet around and go over the necessary equipment over dinner, as well as the camera settings needed for night photography. When the milkyway begins to rise, we will spend 4 to 5 hours hours working with different techniques such as milkyway compositions, light painting, star trails, and much much more! The workshop will conclude as soon as astronomical dawn begins (sunrise.)

INVESTMENT AND TERMS: $949 per participant and $875 for returning attendees. Weather is unpredictable. Weather may compromise our photography shooting conditions but lessons will continue if the conditions permit. A $475 nonrefundable deposit is required to reserve your space in a workshop by depositing via PayPal below. If weather does cancel our workshop, the non refundable deposit will be transferred towards another workshop of your choice. Reservations must be made 30 days in advance. Please contact me if needed.
