Palm Springs, CA (October 9, 2014) – The Palm Springs International Film Society (PSIFS) is pleased to introduce FIRST FEATURES, a Public Program that introduces emerging filmmakers throughout the year. First Features brings first-time feature film directors and their films to Palm Springs in advance of their theatrical release dates. It’s an exciting opportunity to hear from up and coming directors and see their films before anyone else. These filmmakers will be the big names of tomorrow, and you’ll be able to say that you saw them first in Palm Springs. The next film in the program is –
SEX ED
Thursday, October 23, 2014 – 7:00 pm
Regal Cinemas Palm Springs Stadium 9 – 789 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs
This event is FREE and open to the public.
Doors will open at 6:15 pm to PSIFS members, 6:30 pm to the general public.
Synopsis :
When Eddie lands his first teaching gig at an inner city middle school, he quickly finds that his highly pubescent pupils are receiving no form of sexual education. Eddie isn’t exactly equipped to teach them – he’s not exactly experienced romantically. And he’s falling in love with the older sister of one of his students. But Eddie goes off lesson plan anyway, delving into the world of menstrual cycles and sexually transmitted infections, and in doing so, incurs the wrath of the local reverend.
ISAAC FEDER (Director) – A graduate of Northwestern University and the AFI Conservatory for Directing, Isaac is a winner of the Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker Award, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Scholarship, and the Kodak 35mm Grant. He has produced television for IFC, Tru TV, and other cable networks. His feature documentary, LIFE ON THE LINE, about professional sports bettors, is now available on Hulu, and SEX ED is his first scripted comedy feature film. His AFI thesis film, SADIE AND THE SLOTMACHINES, played at the Palm Springs Film Festival, and he is thrilled to be back!
The director, Isaac Feder and cast members Haley Joel Osment (Pay it Forward, Forest Gump, Second Hand Lions), Laura Harring and Ray Santiago will be in attendance.
