PALM CANYON DRIVE ROAD CLOSURE FOR OUTDOOR DINING

Despite the record breaking temperatures people are loving being able to eat out.
PALM CANYON DRIVE BETWEEN TAHQUITZ CANYON WAY AND BARISTO ROAD CLOSED TO VEHICLES FOR OUTDOOR DINING, SEPTEMBER 3, 2020 – END OF YEAR (City to review in November/December and decide whether to extend)
The Palm Springs City Council approved a full closure of a two block stretch of Palm Canyon Drive in downtown at a special meeting in August. The move will allow businesses to expand their outdoor dining space to be able to serve more customers.
Alternate Routes: Alternate routes for southbound Palm Canyon Drive, include Indian Canyon Drive, Belardo Road, and Calle Encilia. The signalized intersections at Arenas Road and Baristo Road will allow traffic to travel through going east and west. Arenas Road will be set on red flash. A traffic signal on red flash should be treated like a stop sign. South of Baristo Road, the normal southbound Palm Canyon Drive traffic lanes are maintained.
Parking: Hundreds of free covered parking spaced are available at the downtown parking garage with entrances at the Hyatt Hotel ramp, Museum Dr/Belardo Rd and at Museum Dr/Tahquitz Canyon Way. The City has another parking structure located at the corner of Indian Canyon Drive and Baristo Road that is convenient to the downtown businesses. This parking structure also offers hundreds of covered spaces to beat the heat. There are also surface parking lots that are accessed from Indian Canyon Drive and Belardo Road.
Temporary No Parking Signs: You may see temporary no parking signs posted along Palm Canyon Drive. Please follow the dates and times written on the sign. Vehicles are allowed to park in those spaces up until the posted date and time.
