The Old West Has Arrived in Banning…

The Old West Has Arrived in Banning…And it will be there through the weekend

Fast-draw contests, steer roping and other Old West- themed entertainment will be on display in the San Gorgonio Pass this weekend as the Banning Stagecoach Days Festival gets underway.

The annual event is scheduled to run all weekend at A.C. Dysart Park, located at Victory Avenue and 22nd Street. An Old West town mockup will serve as the activity hub, featuring quick-draw competitions, trap shooting, simulated gunfights and buggy rides.

A parade is scheduled during the day Saturday, and starting around 6 p.m., the Rodeo Queen Coronation and Dance will be held at the Banning Armory, 2041 W. Nicolet St.

Vendors will be on hand, selling food, crafts and other wares. A “western saloon” offering a varied selection of brews will be open. The Nitro Express country band is slated to play on the main stage Saturday night.

On Sunday, following a cowboy church service, the rodeo arena will open again, along with a Kids’ Zone, sporting a variety of family-friendly activities, according to organizers.

The daily price of admission is $5 for adults. Children 10 and under are admitted free.
