Memorial Day Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony in Palm Desert

Memorial Day Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony in Palm Desert

Palm Desert, CA – AMVETS Post 66 and Veterans for Peace (VFP) invite the community to a Peace Pole dedication ceremony on Memorial Day in Palm Desert’s Civic Center Park. This solemn event is a tribute to our country’s war dead and deceased veterans. The Peace Pole features the inscription “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in multiple languages, including a braille plate, and joins more than 200,000 Peace Poles worldwide.

Peace Poles have found homes in several Coachella Valley communities, including Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs, Mecca and Thermal. A Peace Pole has been dedicated at the Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D.C. There is also now one in Joshua Tree.

Five tiles will be dedicated in the rose garden for veterans who have passed away in recent years. The program will last approximately one hour, with chairs and water bottles provided. Join AMVETS Post 66 and VFP in commemorating Memorial Day with this dedication to peace and remembrance.
