Lakers relocate G League team to the Coachella Valley in 2026

The Los Angeles Lakers are relocating their NBA G League team, formerly the South Bay Lakers, to the Coachella Valley starting with the 2026-27 season. The team, rebranded as the Coachella Valley Lakers, will play home games at in Palm Desert.

Venue: The team will play at the 11,000-seat Acrisure Arena, which also hosts the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds.

Season: The inaugural Coachella Valley Lakers season begins in the fall of 2026.

Announcement: The official announcement was made on April 30, 2026, marking a shift from their previous home in El Segundo.

With COVID-19 cases significantly down, the City Council approved re-opening VillageFest at their last night meeting, with a smaller footprint and safety protocols in place. The street fair is expected to expand to its original length in the coming months. During the summer, VillageFest hours of operation will be 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
