The La Quinta City Council unanimously voted on April 6 to issue a notice of default to developer Robert Green pertaining to the SilverRock Resort project.

The standing SilverRock Golf Resort plan centers around new development of two luxury hotels – a Montage-branded hotel and Pendry Resort with a combined total of more than 300 rooms to be built on the land that was the original 18th hole of the SilverRock Golf Course.

The City of La Quinta issued the notice of default to the SilverRock Development Company, LLC (Robert Green Developer) on April 7.

The city issued the following official statement:

“After lengthy discussions with legal counsel the Mayor and City Council unanimously voted to issue the notice of default, per the terms of the agreement. The project consists of the Montage and Pendry Resort and Lifestyle Residences at the SilverRock property and was scheduled to be completed in late 2020.

The City has acknowledged the default status of the project and would like to make the community aware of steps it is taking:

The mayor, city council, city manager and city staff will continue to support and assist the developer in moving forward on this project, as well as continue to keep the community updated on next steps and milestones as they become available.”

The project was announced in the spring of 2017, although the project was envisioned, and planning began in 2012. The hotels were originally scheduled to be finished by fall 2019, but there have been multiple delays, including an extension to complete the hotels in 2020 and then another delay to 2021.
