Kia Dealership Moves Forward at I-10 Auto Mall

A new Kia auto dealership will be the latest addition to the growing I-10 Auto Mall in Indio. Indio’s Planning Commission unanimously granted conditional approval for a nearly 25,000-square-foot, two-story car dealership, showroom and service station on a 3.5 acre parcel on Varner Road and Fifties Way.
“There’s no question there’s a need for a full sales and service Kia dealership in the east Valley,” said Paul J. Thiel, President of Fiesta Kia. “Lots of owners live and work at this end of the Coachella Valley, and we are excited to complete this project.” Thiel noted the new dealership will support an estimated 125 new jobs and thanked the city of Indio for their support throughout the permitting process.
Fiesta Kia will become the 11th new car dealership at the I-10 Auto Mall, joining respected brands such as Ford, Honda, GMC, Toyota, Dodge, Chrysler and Volkswagen.
“We are thankful for the Thiel family’s continued investment in Indio and are happy to welcome Kia to the Coachella Valley’s largest auto mall,” said Indio Mayor Elaine Holmes.
The project is expected to open in the summer of 2022 and has the potential to expand to a second phase of development at a later date. This new phase may involve new retail and restaurants west of the dealership.

With COVID-19 cases significantly down, the City Council approved re-opening VillageFest at their last night meeting, with a smaller footprint and safety protocols in place. The street fair is expected to expand to its original length in the coming months. During the summer, VillageFest hours of operation will be 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
