GET READY TO RETHINK EXTINCT WHEN THE LIVING DESERT TURNS INTO ZOORASSIC PARK

The Living Desert is pleased to announce the opening of Zoorassic Park, a thrilling live stage show featuring a trio of Hollywood-caliber dinosaur characters, that will be hatching at the zoo and gardens beginning Saturday, January 10, 2015.

The family-friendly Zoorassic Park show encourages guests to “Rethink Extinct” as the dinosaurs are brought back to life. Three shockingly real dinosaurs will transport attendees to prehistoric times while educating the audience about their existence centuries ago. Brutus, a seven-foot tall, 15-foot long from nose to tail, Tyrannosaurus Rex will growl, snort and roar along with Penny, a Parasaurolophus that stands 10 feet tall and 17 feet long. A baby triceratops named Trixie rounds out the trio, showcasing a unique personality all her own.

“The Living Desert is very excited to bring Zoorassic Park to life,” said Allen Monroe, President/CEO of The Living Desert. “While designed to entertain, this interactive production also functions as an educational tool that touches on geology, zoology, botany, archeology and paleontology. Kids will not only be entertained, but will learn something too.”

The 25-minute show will be performed three-times daily at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The performances, held on stage at the Tennity Amphitheatre, are free with paid admission to The Living Desert.

The show’s life-like dinosaur characters were designed and built by hand by the Chiodo Bros., a Hollywood creature-making team whose work has been featured in such films as “Critters,” “Elf,” “Dinner For Schmucks” and “Gremlins.”

“With the addition of Zoorassic Park, 2015 is shaping up to be a year of prehistoric proportions at The Living Desert,” said Monroe.

In addition to the live show, junior paleontologists will have the opportunity to dig for fossils and take photos with dinosaur exhibits throughout the zoo. Dinosaurs are also available for adoption and dinosaur-themed snacks and souvenirs are available for purchase.

Zoorassic Park at The Living Desert is scheduled to run through 2015. For more information, call 760-346-5694 or visit www.livingdesert.org[1].
