Art Affaire – Free Rancho Mirage Event Showcases Talented, Award-winning and Local Artists

November not only ushers in perfect weather, but also a season of cultural events in Coachella Valley.

Rancho Mirage Art Affaire

First up is Rancho Mirage Art Affaire[1], two days of a juried art show that features the talents of award-winning local, national, and international artists as well as live musical entertainment, food, wine and other exhibits.

Artists showcase their amazing work in Rancho Mirage

Artists from near and far vie for an opportunity to showcase their work at this acclaimed event. Take time to wander through the aisles to booths filled with photography, sculpture, metal works, prints, paintings, drawings, apparel, jewelry, ceramics, glass and more.

Free of charge and open to the public, this 19th annual event is held Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (rain or shine), at Rancho Mirage Community Park & Amphitheater, 71-560 San Jacinto Drive in Rancho Mirage. Parking is available at the park and along San Jacinto Drive.  ADA parking also available.

Spend the weekend shopping for fine art, wine, food & music! Visit a wide variety of vendor booths including Police, Fire, City Hall, and more.  The Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory will offer creative and fun hands-on projects for the kiddos and each day starting at 3 p.m., enjoy the sounds of live modern jazz, and some Motown and blues!

The Rancho Mirage Rotary Club will host a wine and beer garden and we have a wide variety of participating restaurants this year – Acqua California Bistro, Brandini Toffee, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, Haus of Poke, and new to Rancho Mirage, The Sandbox Kitchen.  The Rancho Mirage Rotary will host a wine & beer garden.

Music to your ears at the Rancho Mirage Amphitheater

Enjoy free entertainment starting at 3 p.m. each day at the Rancho Mirage Amphitheater. Patrons are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Saturday from 3:00 – 6:30 p.m.: LA Diamond Trio takes the stage with jazz, swing, Latin and dance standards. This diverse jazz trio has an impeccable reputation for providing quality live entertainment. It received a 4-star review in Downbeat Magazine and members hail from the best in music today including Herbie Hancock, Ramsey Lewis, Wynton Marsalis, Miles Davis Electric Band, Umphrey’s McGee, Lupe Fiasco, Vandermark 5, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Bobby Broom and more.

Sunday: The Soul of Motown performs 3:00 – 4:30 p.m., covering hits from Motown acts such as The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and The Supremes.

From 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., national recording artist Will Donato returns to Art Affaire again this year. This talented saxophonist’s latest radio single, “Infinite Soul,” was released in January 2019, and reached the coveted #1 spot on the Billboard smooth jazz airplay chart. A dynamic performer, Donato has headlined or shared the stage with other greats such as Richard Elliot, Wynonna Judd, Al McKay of Earth Wind and Fire, Bruce Conte of Tower of Power, Steve Reid of The Rippingtons, as well as many more. His music can be heard on the soundtracks from several movie scores including, “Thelma and Louise,” “The Wedding Planner” and “No Man’s Land.”

Art all around in Rancho Mirage

The Palm Springs Art Museum[4]: Admission is free to the public all the time and open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. every day of the week except Wednesdays. Current exhibitions include, Brave New Worlds: Exploration of Space and Barbara Stauffacher Solomon. Breaking all the Rules. The permanent collection includes works by Ansel Adams, Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Roy Lichtenstein, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and others.

Sunnylands Center & Gardens:[5] Visitors to the historic estate can enjoy Walter and Leonore Annenberg’s collection of sculpture as well the current exhibit,  “Reach for the Sky: Tradition + Inspiration,”[6] featuring artwork by Canadian First Nations artist Henry Hunt, his son and grandson, and works by musician and artist Herb Alpert who was inspired by the Hunt family’s Kwakiutl totems.
