Thursday evening, I was given the opportunity to go to Saxony Fashion Week El Paseo to watch the debut runway show designed by graduating students
from Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM).
I was able to sit in the media section at the end of the runway, giving me a wonderful view of all the designs. Individually, they all had a unique style that helped create their beautiful lines of clothing.
It was hard to pick a favorite as each designer expressed a different vision but I really liked Leonides Garcia’s collection.
I loved how he used rust, black, and gold, giving his line a rich look to compliment his theme and inspiration…a tribute to the James Bond film “You Only Live Twice”.
I was also impressed by the crown created by Leetal Platt. The model wore a very feminine ruffled gown and the headdress was a dramatic touch…the perfect choice for a spectacular runway finale.
After the show, I got to go backstage to talk to the designers.
I enjoyed learning about the different fabrics and the vibrant colors that were used to make the clothing and it was
inspiring to speak to the some of the designers about what motivated their collections.
It impressed me how much work went into getting the models on the runway and how happy it made the designers once their creations were up there. It was fun to see how each of the designer’s hard work came to life.
