Coachella Valley’s Christmas Store

Our Story:
Since 2004, the Coachella Valley Christmas Store has been serving families who do not have the financial means to have Christmas gifts or a special meal for the holidays. Staffed by volunteers from across the valley, the CV Christmas Store is set like a department store.

Parents are escorted through the store with their own personal shopper, going from room-to-room to select an age-appropriate gift they think is just right for their child. The gifts are then wrapped and labeled for each child. While this is happening the children are cared for in the children’s area where volunteers have planned Christmas activities.

In addition, the families take home a family picture taken that day, a box of food, good wishes and cheer. By approaching the project in this manner, we are able to boost family s e l f – e s t e e m a n d p r o v i d e encouragement from the volunteers with whom they interact.

Facts
• The average family we serve has four children.

• A box of food and a family photo were provided to 1500 families from across the valley.

• Last year, over 6,000 children received wrapped Christmas gifts through the CV Christmas Store.

• Over 1000 volunteer hours are needed at each location to ensure a successful event.

Donating New Toys: Items can be dropped off in designated receptacles at local participating churches and businesses.
