Certified Farmers Markets to Open Monthly Evening Market in Palm Desert

Market to Run from 4pm to 8pm on First Wednesday of Every Month.
Starting February 4th, 2015 (and continuing the first Wednesday of every month), Palm Desert’s popular mid-week Certified Farmers’ Market will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. “Many of our Palm Desert customers have been asking for an evening market alternative so they could come by and shop right after work.” said Paul Palodichuk, General Manager of the Palm Springs Cultural Center’s Certified Farmers’ Market Program. “So we’re adding this first of the month evening Market to our Palm Desert program. At the same time, we wanted to make sure we could continue to serve our other (morning) Farmers’ Market customers, so our morning (8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) Certified Farmers’ Market will continue on all the other Wednesdays.”
The new first-of-the-month Wednesday Evening Certified Farmers’ Market will have many of the same farms and specialty vendors that come to the regular Wednesday morning market, but there are also new farmers, plus new home-based food businesses and food vendors. “We’ll also have entertainment, special events, chef demonstrations, music and more!” Palodichuk continued. “We want to make our monthly evening market a real community celebration, so we’re adding all sorts of special touches – live farm animals, antique farm equipment, community non-profit booths, activity/health booths – as well as additional food options for folks who want to join us for dinner.”
FARM FRESH • LOCAL • DELICIOUS • NUTRITIOUS
The New Palm Desert Evening Certified Farmers’ Market opens on Wednesday, February 4th, in the same location as the regular Wednesday morning market, adjacent to the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce, 72-559 Highway 111. The Evening Market will continue the first Wednesday of every month through May, with the regular morning markets returning on all the other other Wednesdays of the month.

The Certified Farmers’ Markets are the Coachella Valley’s only State and County Certified Farmers’ Markets. That means all the fruits, vegetables, meats and other products that are on sale at the markets have been grown on California Certified farms. In addition, almost all the farms are located within a 90 mile radius of the markets (thus reducing the carbon footprint), and many of the products sold are “USDA Certified Organic.”
The Certified Farmers Markets are sponsored by the Palm Springs Cultural Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which was established to encourage the development of the cultural arts in the Coachella Valley with a specific focus in the areas of film, fine art, live performance, dance, music, and community festivals. The Center is dedicated to advancing education, to nurturing community-wide participation in the cultural arts, and to sponsoring scholarship awards for deserving individuals.
