Cathedral City Mayor Greg Pettis Dead at 63.

Longtime Cathedral City councilman Greg Pettis, who last month became the city’s first openly gay mayor, died Tuesday at the age of 63.

Pettis, the longest serving member of the city council, was hospitalized last Wednesday for surgery and died late Tuesday afternoon from complications.

Cathedral City Mayor Greg Pettis died Tuesday afternoon from complications related to a 2018 gastric bypass surgery, his family said.
