Buffalo Bills safety Given CPR

Update January 3, 2023 – Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, a sixth-round draft pick out of Pittsburgh in 2021, climbed to his feet after tackling Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins, during last night’s Monday Night Football game, then fell back to the turf and seemed to lose consciousness.

He was administered CPR, defibrillated and transported by ambulance to a hospital. The team later said he had suffered “a cardiac arrest” following the tackle and “is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, 24-year-old — a sixth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, was injured in the first quarter of the Bengals-Bills game.

An ambulance entered the field.

Hamlin suffered a hit, got up, remained standing for a few moments and then collapsed without trying to support his fall.

First responders have administered CPR.

He remained down fifteen minutes after the hit.

He was given oxygen, placed on a stretcher and eventually carried into an ambulance headed for the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The league has temporarily suspended play in wake of the injury.

The 24-year-old starting defensive back was in critical condition in a Cincinnati hospital after falling unconscious to the field after making a hit.
