Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia Honors Sure Helpline Crisis Center as Nonprofit of the Year!!

Imperial County violence intervention and prevention center recognized at the State Capitol – Sure Helpline Crisis Center recognized as the 56th Assembly District Nonprofit of the Year.

 

 

(Sacramento – CA) June 6th, 2018 Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) was proud to honor Sure Helpline Crisis Center as the 56thAssembly District Nonprofit of the Year.

Margaret Sauza, Executive Director of this Imperial County based sexual violence intervention and prevention center traveled to Sacramento to receive recognition at the 3rdAnnual California Nonprofits Day Ceremony.

“It is a great honor to receive this recognition by such an outstanding and hardworking Assemblyman as Eduardo Garcia. Mr. Garcia has been a tremendous support for our agency Sure Helpline Crisis Center and has been there for all lot of the nonprofits in my county. He is always ready to listen and work hand-in-hand with his constituents,” shared Margaret Sauza, Executive Director of Sure Helpline Crisis Center.

“Our agency works hard to empower women that have been victims of sexual assault and any form of violence. We are very lucky to have a hands-on Assemblyman who truly cares for his district. This recognition gives my employees, volunteers and victims the assurance that we are on the right path.”

For nearly 50 years, Sure Helpline Crisis Center, located in El Centro, has been committed to improving the quality of life for sexual violence victims and engaging in awareness programming to prevent incidents of violence. This organization provides confidential, 24-hour crisis intervention, information, and referral services to all people regardless of age, sex, religion, national origin, or disability.

“It was an honor to recognize Sure Helpline Crisis Center as our 56th Assembly District Nonprofit of the Year and shine a light on their strides to achieve a positive, empowered and violence resilient Imperial County community,” said Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia.

“Over many years of dedicated efforts and creative collaboration, this organization has become a central resource and guide for violence prevention. My hope is by showcasing Sure Helpline’s mission and work on this statewide platform we can foster greater awareness around sexual and domestic violence issues while encouraging investments in prevention resources to help stop abuse before it occurs.” 

The California Association of Nonprofits organizes this annual awards event in conjunction with the State Assembly Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector.

Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) serves as the chairperson of the Assembly Committee on Water, Parks and Wildlife.  He represents the 56th district, which comprises the cities and communities of Blythe, Brawley, Bermuda Dunes, Calexico, Calipatria, Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, El Centro, Holtville, Imperial, Indio, Mecca, Oasis, North Shore, Salton Sea, Thermal, Thousand Palms, and Westmorland.
