Follow these cool and simple instructions to making healthy, fruit infused water!
1. Strawberry, Lemon, and Basil
4-6 strawberries, hulled and quartered
1/2 lemon, sliced
Small handful of basil, scrunched
Ice and cold filtered water
Instructions
- Fill your juice pitcher to the top with ice and fruit.
- Slightly scrunch up the basil so it releases it’s flavor. Cover with cold filtered water.
- This water is best if you let the water infuse at least 1 hour. If you’re inpatient (like me), poke a few holes in your fruit with a fork for instant flavor.
Adding basil to water gives it an amazing freshness and the fruit adds just the right amount of sweet tang.
2. Orange and Blueberry
6 cups water
2 mandarin oranges,cut into wedges
a handful of blueberries
ice
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a pitcher and put in the fridge for 2-24 hours to allow the water to infuse.
- You can also squeeze in the juice of one mandarin orange and muddle the blueberries to intensify flavor a bit.
- Serve cold.

3. Watermelon and Mint
12 cups seedless watermelon cubes
1/2 cup lightly packed fresh mint leaves
Ice
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a pitcher and put in the fridge for 2-24 hours to allow the water to infuse. You can add as much or as little fruit as you’d prefer. Add more fruit for more flavor and sweetness for your waters.
4. Citrus and Cucumber
2-3 liters water
2 large oranges, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
½ large cucumber, sliced
1 handful of fresh mint
Instructions
- Put oranges, lemon and cucumber in the water pitcher. Using a long spoon, gently mash fruits/veggies; this will release more flavor.
- Take the mint, and gently mash it to release the natural oils; add to the pitcher.
- Add water to the pitcher, and stir to begin the infusion process.
- Drink/serve immediately, or store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Notes
*This water also tastes great when infused overnight; if doing so, consider removing the rinds from the lemon and oranges. This will cut down on the bitterness.
5. Strawberry, Lime, and Cucumber
1 cup sliced strawberries
1 cup sliced cucumbers
2 limes, sliced
¼ cup fresh mint leaves
Ice cubes
Water
Instructions
- In a half-gallon jar, or a 2 quart pitcher, layer the strawberries, cucumbers, lime slices, and mint leaves with the ice cubes. Fill jar or pitcher with water. Let chill for 10 minutes, and then enjoy!
NOTES
I can get 2-4 fill-ups out of one batch of flavorings, but you might want to change out your flavorings sooner for stronger flavor.
Feel free to use sparkling water instead of still water.
Obviously, the longer the water sits, the stronger the flavor. It’s mild at first, but after a few hours (or overnight) it’s quite strong.

6. Cantaloupe Agua Fresca with Honey and Mint
makes 4 drinks
½ c water
½ c honey
4 c (about 2 lbs) cantaloupe cut into 1 inch pieces
¼ c fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
2 Tbsp fresh mint leaves
¼ tsp salt
sparkling water or club soda
mint sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- Combine the honey and water in a small saucepan and heat over medium low heat until water and honey are combined and just beginning to boil, about 2-4 minutes. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
- Combine honey syrup, cantaloupe, lime juice, mint leaves, and salt in a blender and puree until smooth.
- Using a fine meshed sieve or a piece of cheesecloth, strain the cantaloupe mixture into another container. Discard solids. You should end up with about 2 cups of liquid.
- In each glass, pour ½ c of the cantaloupe juice over ice. Fill the rest of the glass with sparkling water or club soda and stir to mix. Alternately, you can mix equal parts cantaloupe juice and sparkling water in a pitcher with ice and pour into glasses as needed. Garnish with a mint sprig and enjoy!
7. Champagne Mango and Lime
Ingredients
4 cups filtered water
2 cup Mango pieces, peeled
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed Lime Juice
3-4 tablespoons Turbinado Sugar (granulated sugar can be substituted)*
Garnish: Lime Slices
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until liquified. Serve over lots of ice, garnished with a slice of lime
NOTES – *Turninado Sugar is unrefined cane sugar, made from evaporating the liquid from sugar cane leaving a brown, granular sugar with flavor tones of molasses. It is more rustic in appearance and less sweet taste than granulated sugar and was perfect for this recipe. If using granulated sugar, taste the Agua Fresco after 3 tablespoons of sugar before adding more to ensure it does not become overly sweet.
