Living Desert Spooktacular Weekend!

by Tony Fernandez

(Palm Desert, CA) Wow did our family have some fun, more than we had anticipated, it was for sure a treat. Rebecca Brown (Market & Public Relations Manager) was willing to give us a tour but we assured her that we would be fine on our own, thanks Rebecca!

Families were mostly dressed in costumes which added to the Halloween spirit. There were activities for kids throughout the park.

We enjoyed the carousel ride, which was a surprise to us, don’t remember seeing that last time, but then again it had been almost 10 years since our last visit to the park, that’s gonna change.

The highlight of the day was the giraffe exhibit. We had walked in from the East side and could only see the head from far away, that in itself was exciting, who sees a giraffe everyday? But then I could here a commotion from the West side of the exhibit (out from our view) and thought, hey there’s gotta be a better view! We literately ran to the noise in anticipation, and yes there was a better view, so good that you could pet and feed the giraffes if you wanted too. How cool is that!

There seemed to be an endless supply of candy all over the park, “Trick Or Treat” and your bag was filled, nice. There was a lot to see, I think we missed a few exhibits, the Cats and the Butterflies Garden. For the kids there was pumpkin carving, Jedi sword training, (the guy looked like a Jedi), pumpkin bowling, book readings, arts, crafts, and more trick or treating with cool music blaring from the dj booth (awesome). We had a blast, what more can I say.
