Coachella Valley’s Modernism Fall Weekend PreviewThe Coachella Valley Team was out and about for the final day of the Modernism Week fall preview. What a beautiful hot day for some retro activities! We started out at the vintage yard sale. Vendors lined up with everything from furniture, old school televisions, vintage memorabilia, glass and my favorite...Tupperware! One vendor had used old hub caps and made clocks. I've seen this done before with old vinyl records but never with hubcaps! Brilliant! Another mans trash is another man treasure. After perusing all the old goodies we headed over to the Hilton to take the Double Decker Bus Tour. At first I had reservations about the journey considering its a full 2 and a half hours with the only stop being a bathroom break at the base of the PS Tram. The engine roared and off we went winding through various neighborhoods throughout Palm Springs. The Double Decker Bus tour turned out to be a real treat and would recommend tourist and locals alike to take this journey at least once. We saw many historical homes and our tour guide shared great stories of Elvis, Sinatra, Presidents, and of course Marilyn. Despite the warm weather all aboard were very interested as the content was entertaining and very informative. After a quick stop at my new favorite lunch spot in palm springs (the Sandwich Spot) it was off to the historic Bougainvillea Estate that rests on the slope of San Jacinto looking over the beautiful city. What a home! Cascading waterfalls, gorgeous steps that disappear into the mountain, Granite filled Guest House, and oh did we mention the view? I could go on and on describing the intricate detail that makes this estate such a special one but ill let a few of our pictures speak for themselves! The Sunset reception brought to a close a weekend filled with History, Mystery, and just plain fun. If this fall preview is a precursor of what's coming in February we assure you folks, we're in for a treat.
