Hundreds of thousands of people are descending on the desert this weekend as the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival kicks off for it’s 20th year. The three day event, headlined by Childish Gambino, Arianna Grande, and Tame Impala, is showing no signs off slowing down.

 

But not everyone is here for the festival. The parties surrounding the festival have become an attraction all of their own, and many attendees skip the festival all together. Party goers have come to expect massive parties, with open bars and free gear from sponsors, at some of the most beautiful estates in the valley.

As usual, Bootsy Bellows, Revolve Festival and Neon Carnival are the hottest tickets in town. These events play host to Hollywood celebrities, influencers, musicians and the biggest names in the fashion industry. But if you can’t manage to get on the guest list for Neon, there are plenty of other events happening this weekend.

How to get into parties

Many of the parties are not open to the public, but are invite-only or a RSVP is required. It helps to know someone “in the industry” that is somehow connected with the event. That will be your best bet.

That said, it is possible to get into some of these parties even if you’re not on the list. First you need to know the location, and you’ll need to arrive early. Once the events have hit capacity, the security is very strict about not letting anyone else in.

Second, you need to act the part. Don’t come to the events wearing sandals, a baseball cap, sports jersey etc. Generally, you’ll need to dress the part, which means dressing trendy.

Third, be nice. It’s amazing how far a smile can go. If you’re nice to the event staff and security, and don’t come in a big group, you might have a shot of getting into one of the Coachella 2018 parties.

In just two years, Dayclub has already hosted some of the biggest names in electronic music from Tiesto, David Guetta, Martin Garrixx, Chromeo and more. 2016 is no different with the multi-Grammy Award winning Skrillex, lining up alongside future bass maestro Mr. Carmack, the live electronics of Cash Cash, Norwegian instrumentalist Lido, LA’s finest TOKiMONSTA, Melbourne-based Dirty South, and hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd.

On Sunday, April 17th LA’s underground haven Sound hosts the pool presenting All Gone Pete Tong.

The poolside oasis of the Hilton Palm Springs serves as an idyllic day club setting for the party-inclined and the perfect warmup to your night at Coachella.

Vestal Village

This 72-hour party and “consciousness expanding experience” is hosted on a private property at a secret location in Palm Springs. The party purports to be invite-only but limited guest list is available. The lineup is kept secret until day of, but past performances have included Robert DeLong, Shiny Toy Guns, Boots Electric, UZ and Posso. Watch for information here.

Culture Collide “Not a pool party”

The Culture Collide Coachella Party is returning to Palm Springs this year just in time to kick off the festival season with a bang! While everyone’s raging on the Polo Fields, Desert Gold will be “ushering an oasis of meditation and celestial beatmaking” for all you deep web hippies out there. With special events hosted by Moog, The David Lynch Foundation, and more, this is definitely going to be a very unique scene.

Neon Carnival

Industry execs and celebrities (Bieber, Chris Brown, Usher, Leo etc.) . This is one of the most exclusive events in California throughout the entire year.

A celebrity-filled, Hollywood type after party that has made a name for itself as the must-do Coachella after party. The event is the product of Brent Bolthouse, Hollywood nightclub promoter and owner of The Bungalow in Santa Monica. “2016 attendees can expect new rides, a new setup, as well as DJs Kayper, Politik, Jesse Marco, and the under-appreciated DJ Ruckus, all of which will keep a predominantly industry crowd dancing late in to the night — or early into the morning, depending on how you look at it.” Read more here
