Tournament Donates Portion of October Ticket Sales to Eisenhower Medical Center and Desert Cancer Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

INDIAN WELLS, Calif., December 1, 2014 – The BNP Paribas Open, the largest ATP World Tour and WTA combined two-week event in the world to be held March 9-22, 2015 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, has launched its annual holiday fundraising promotion whereby one dollar for every daily loge and grandstand ticket sold for the month of December will be donated to the National Junior Tennis & Learning Network of the Coachella Valley, it was announced today by Steve Simon, tournament director.

The National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) Network, founded in 1968 by Charlie Pasarell, the late Arthur Ashe and Sheridan Snyder, is a non-profit organization that reaches out to children through recreational tennis programs to help promote the positive attributes of sportsmanship,
self-esteem and fitness. The Coachella Valley chapter of the National Junior Tennis & Learning Network continues to reach out to children ages 5 to 18 across the Valley by providing programs that promote education and a healthy lifestyle. Through the many events, clinics, and tournaments offered, the NJTL is able to give thousands of children an opportunity to learn and play as well as grow the game of tennis at the grass roots level. For more information about NJTL programs, clinics and tournaments offered in the Coachella Valley please visit njtlcoachellavalley.com or call the Indian Wells Tennis Garden tennis shop (760) 200-8200.

Additionally, the tournament donated more than $11,000 to the Eisenhower Schnitzer/Novack Breast Center and the Desert Cancer Foundation during the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center is a remarkable cancer treatment
facility that offers patients unrivaled medical care and comprehensive cancer services, including treatment for prostate cancer and breast cancer, while the Desert Cancer Foundation’s cancer screening program provides services to residents of the Coachella Valley who are uninsured and have a financial need.

“The BNP Paribas Open remains committed to continuing its support of local organizations such as the NJTL, the Eisenhower Schnitzer/Novack Breast Center and Desert Cancer Foundation both through direct fundraising programs and through The Champions Volunteer Foundation,” said
Simon.
